WWII US NAVY MARK I CAMILLUS FIGHTING KNIFE WITH RESEARCH: CARRIED BY A SEABEE – DIRECTLY FROM HIS FAMILY

NOTE: Identification / “Dog” Tag that you see in the photos in NOT included. It remains in a shadow box with the family. They allowed us to take the photo that you see here for reference. You do receive a photo copy of it with this listing and we can email you a digital copy upon your request.

WWII USN MKI Fighting Knife Made By Camillus With Original Leather Scabbard remains in overall GOOD to VERY GOOD CONDITION and Includes research with copies of photos. This MKI was carried by AS Charles George Gehring, USN, a SEABEE who saw service in the Philippines and China during WWII. This MKI came DIRECTLY to us about two months ago from AS Gehring’s Daughter and Son in Law in Covington, Louisiana. We also obtained the USMC 45 Magazine Pouch that is currently listed from them as it was carried by AS Gehring’s Son In Law’s Father during the WWII – Korean War Era. This particular MKI shows visible signs of age, wear and use, but remains overall VERY solid. Blade is undamaged with no overly apparent sharpening marks and maintains a very good edge. “USN” and Camillus markings remain clearly visible and the cross guard remains very tight. Stacked leather washer style grip shows considerable age darkening and visible wear but remain very solid with no damage, rot or other blemishes. Bakelite butt cap remains tight and very solid showing only light scrapes and scratches from you. NO damage other other issues. Scabbard shows clearly visible signs of age, wear and use but remains quite solid overall. Retention strap and brass snap function properly and all leather remains soft and flexible. One small tear to the throat of the scabbard that is only visible under close inspection. Includes a packet of research with photo copies of pictures of AS Gehring during his time in service during WWII. Overall, a very nice knife that has never been in the hands of a collector and comes to you straight from the family via Old Patriot Militaria.
