Description

WWII B-17 “FLYING FORTRESS” N-8A RECTIFLECTOR GUNSIGHT FOR THE 50 CALIBER BROWNING MACHINE GUN: STRAIGHT FROM VETERAN’S ESTATE

SCARCE Complete World War Two US Army Air Forces Marked N-8A “Rectiflector” Gunsight for the 50 Caliber Browning Machine Gun remains in overall FAIR CONDITION and is a “Farm Fresh” example that has not been cleaned or even dusted off in many years. It is dusty, dirty and some parts are a bit rusty. There is also a TINY, almost impossible to see chip to one corner of one of the lenses, there is an arrow pointing toward the chip in the photos below. It is NOT cracked, just has the tiny chip missing. This piece shows clearly visible signs of age, wear, use, neglect and long term storage. The cord, plug and all retainers are present but the rubber insulation around the wiring is cracked, broken, brittle and shows material loss. We obtained this item STRAIGHT from the home of the veteran who “acquired” it from the aircraft at the end of his WWII USAAF service.  We are very confident that with patience, some time, a little effort and elbow grease, this piece will clean up quite nicely and display very well. These items are extremely difficult to find and while by no means perfect, it is well worth the money and will make a great addition to your WWII or USAAF collection. NOTE: These were used on the 50 Cals of other types of USAAF Bombers during WWII, not just the B-17. We specifically state “B-17” in this listing because that is what the veteran flew aboard during WWII and what type of aircraft we were informed that this specific example came from.
