Description
WWI US M1917 HELMET WITH COMPLETE LINER & UNBROKEN CHINSTRAP
Complete WWI US Model 1917 Helmet shows light to moderate signs of age, wear and use, but remains in overall VERY GOOD CONDITION. Maintains approximately 85% of its VERY heavy texture and “olive brown” finish and shows NO dings, dents, rust or corrosion. Liner remains in Good Condition, showing visible signs of age, wear and use, but no readily apparent damage such as splits, tears or separations. Felt crown pad, adjuster webbing and leather liner band show no readily apparent damage but do show age, wear and soiling from use. Chinstrap remains solid and flexible, but does have some darkening and small stiff areas. Shows the beginning of “red rot” but it has NOT become dusty. Chinstrap remains rather solid and is not fragile, but as with most WWI helmet chinstraps, it must be handled with care. Overall, a well above average example that remains completely untouched. They are definitely getting hard to find in this condition.
