WWI BRITISH BRODIE’S HELMET WITH THIRD PATTERN LINER & UNBROKEN CHINSTRAP
GOOD CONDITION World War One Issue British Brodie’s Steel Helmet with Third Pattern Liner and Unbroken Leather Chinstrap. Very nice completely untouched, unaltered example remains exactly as it was when it was manufactured well over 100 years ago. Shows overall light to moderate signs of age, wear, use and long term storage. Helmet shows no readily apparent dings, dents, rust or corrosion and has aged to a light “olive brown” patina. Liner shows rodent damage to the felt crown pad and cotton adjuster webbing, but oil cloth portion and leather liner rim remain very solid with no readily apparent damage. Chinstrap remains soft, flexible and quite solid with no readily apparent rot, but it does show the typical age cracking and is starting to dry in some areas. Minor rodent nibbles to a small portion of the edges. If handled correctly, the chinstrap and liner should remain as they are for some time to come. Overall, a good looking WWI Brodie’s helmet that displays well and will make a nice addition to any collection. Especially at such a bargain price!
