WWI 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division Sergeant’s Private Purchase 1917 Pattern Wool Tunic. Tunic was tailored by Aero Tailoring Company of Baltimore, MD and Remains in Good Condition showing light to moderate signs of age, wear and use. Several scattered moth holes that are approximately the size of a pencil lead as well as a small bit of soiling visible to the wearer’s left chest pocket. None of these blemishes detract from the tunic when displayed (in our opinion) and the tunic maintains a very attractive dark khaki color. No streaking or fading to any of the material and remains quite solid throughout. Left shoulder bears a large Machine Embroidered 23rd Infantry Regiment “Indian Head” Patch that remains in Excellent Condition and firmly applied to the tunic. Round, embroidered border of the patch is LIGHT Blue, but this is difficult to see in the photos. Left sleeve bears Three Gold Overseas Service Chevrons and no honorable discharge chevron. It does not appear to have ever had an HD chevron applied. OSS chevrons remain in Very Good Condition and firmly applied. Right sleeve bears and applied wool set of Sergeant’s Chevrons in Excellent Condition and remaining firmly applied as well. Collar bears “US” and Infantry Company “M” discs that remain in Very Good condition and maintain their correct round fasteners to the rear. All buttons remain firmly¬† in place as do the hook and loop collar closures. Interior of the tunic shows visible age and wear with the wearer’s left sleeve lining separating at the armpit. This is visible in the photos. Larger than usual size tunic that fits loosely on a size 38 mannequin torso. No name to tailor’s tag and no identifying markings to any aspect of the piece. Overall, a very good looking tunic with a beautiful patch. You will be pleased with this one when you see it and proud to add it to your collection.¬†
