VIETNAM WAR 1966 DATED “C” RATION CASE: INCLUDES 12 FULL BOXES, 12 UNOPENED ACCESSORY PACKS & 12 SPOONS – MIXED LOT
NOTE: Loose items are to show examples. They are NOT included.
Early Vietnam War “C” Ration Case Dated June of 1966 and Contains 12 Boxes for the “Meal, Combat, Individual.” EACH box is full of “C” Ration Units (cans) and Contains the UNOPENED Accessory Pack as well as the Spoon. However, only ONE box has the correct amount of units in it and is the only one with the “M” unit, which is the “meat” or main course. This is the Ham and Eggs MCI at the lower left in the picture. ALL other MCI Boxes are full, some with four or five cans in them, but they only have “B,” (Bread/Cracker) “D” (Dessert) and “S” (Spread/Peanut Butter) Units in them. They are a mixed lot and some boxes may have more of one unit than another. By my best count without dumping everything out, you receive the following: ONE – Can Opener, ONE – “M” Unit (Ham & Eggs), NINE – “B1” (Crackers) Units, TEN – “B2” (White Bread) Units, NINE – “B3” (Crackers & Candy) Units (Large Can), FIVE – “D” (Dessert) Units and TWELVE “S” (Spread) Units. They are “mix and match” in the boxes, but as stated, each box contains at least four cans as well as the spoon and accessory pack.
All cans appear to be in GOOD to VERY GOOD CONDITION with no readily apparent rust, leaking or damage to them. We have inspected everything rather closely, but have not analyzed everything extremely close. Nothing stinks, nothing is wet or sticky. The case shows visible signs of age, wear, use and long term storage. There is some ancient water damage visible as well but everything remains quite solid and is not fragile or falling apart. All markings remain crystal clear, as you can see in the photos. The 12 boxes are in varying conditions from Poor to VERY Good, but all display well as you can see in the photos. The Ham & Eggs Box is in Poor Condition and has been taped back together, but this is not readily apparent unless you remove it from the case. All others are solid and show no repairs, but some do show more age, wear and soiling/staining than others. ALL Accessory packs remain in EXCELLENT, UNOPENED CONDITION and the Spoons are in Excellent, Unopened Condition as well. These came to us straight from the family of a WWII Era through Vietnam War Army Officer and have never before been on the collector market.
