5 SEPTEMBER 2025 – As always seems to be the case, life and the military antiques business never quite seem to go in the direction that we expect them to. Just when we think our ship is steady and on an even keel, the winds of change kick up, blowing us way off course. Plotting new courses and riding the winds of change have never been anything new for us at Old Patriot Militaria, but 2025 has certainly tested our sea faring ability. We discovered that due to our ship’s years at sea, she had become worn, “war weary” and in need of an overhaul. So, we plotted a course for our home port in order to undergo a “re-fit” and repairs. As the work is nearing completion, we believe our vessel is ready to set sail and will be sea worthy for many years to come. . .
I am a “dreamer” that flies by the seat of my pants and throws caution to the wind. Trish is the grounded, sensible one. I always want to do more in the world of militaria than is humanly (or monetarily) possible and Trish brings me back down to earth with facts, figures, rationale, reason and other such sensibilities. Unfortunately, I have to curb my enthusiasm regarding new projects for the time being as we have quite a few “irons in the fire.” Right now, we are working on our Old Patriot Militaria Store, a new website and the Greater New Orleans Militaria Show. At the moment, our main focus has to be the Greater New Orleans Militaria Show, which is coming up on October 18th & 19th as we are going to make it the biggest and best show yet!
