Description
CAMOUFLAGE PAINTED WWI US M1917 HELMET WITH COMPLETE LINER & UNBROKEN CHINSTRAP: VERY ATTRACTIVE EXAMPLE
M1917 Helmet Shows Only Light Signs of Age, Wear, Use and Long Term Storage. Piece is DIRECTLY From Our Personal Collection and Remains in Overall VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT Condition. Helmet maintains it’s original Bates Shoe Company Liner in excellent condition throughout and Unbroken Leather Chinstrap. Helmet bears a very well done and very attractive camouflage pattern that features irregular segments of “earth” brown, “fire engine” red, “egg shell” white, very dark OD green, medium OD green and what is the equivalent of OD#3. All colors are separated by wide, black lines. ALL paint remains bright, bold and very easy to see. Camouflage paint shows very minimal wear and paint loss and displays extremely well. Helmet shows NO dings, dents, rust or corrosion to any aspect. Liner is extremely solid with no readily apparent blemishes of any sort to any aspect. Markings to rear of oil cloth portion of the liner remain crystal clear. Chinstrap remains soft, solid and flexible but does show some cracking and the early onset of “red rot.” Chinstrap is NOT dusty or fragile, but as with nearly every WWI helmet chinstrap, it should be handled with care. If properly handled and taken care of, this chinstrap should remain complete and unbroken for many years to come. Overall, a very attractive, untouched, unaltered example of a complete camo painted WWI M1917. You will be extremely pleased with this helmet when you see it and we all know that it is VERY difficult to find them in this condition anymore.
