Description
WWII BOYT MANUFACTURED MAP CASE DATED 1942 WITH MAY 1944 DATED LENSATIC US ARMY COMPASS
Map Case Remains in Very Good Condition and is clearly marked “BOYT 42” to the rear. “US” marking to the front remains bold and clearly visible as well. Blacked brass “lift the dot” style snaps and studs remain undamaged and function smoothly. Interior bears two enlisted style partial service numbers as well as the hand written name “CAPT COLE” crossed out along with the “laundry numbers.” Case bears a late war OD#7 musette bag style strap that also remains in very good condition. US Army Blacked Metal and Brass US Army Lensatic Compass bears clear markings to the cover and functions, but it has obviously taken a blow that caused a small “ding” to the brass rim and shattered the glass crystal. As stated, the compass DOES still work. These two pieces came to us from a local source as part of a large collection. Nearly every item in this collection was obtained from the veteran themselves or the veteran’s family in the New Orleans area. They were displayed together by the previous collector, so we decided to leave them together. A good looking set that displays very well.
