MEXICAN BORDER – WWI ERA “TRENCH ART” PICTURE FRAME WITH PHOTO: FIRST NY CAVALRY, TROOP “M,” NATIONAL GUARD
Mexican Border to WWI Era “Trench Art” Picture Frame Measures 6×5 Inches and appears to be constructed of bronze or heavy, painted brass and remains in VERY GOOD CONDITION. Frame shows minor signs of age and storage wear, but no other readily apparent blemishes. Handmade frame bears images of rifle rounds and swords as well and “NG,” “M,” and “U.S.” as well as “1st NY CAV.” Obviously for Troop “M,” First New York Cavalry, National Guard, United States. Image depicts a trooper standing at parade rest wearing a three button shirt, breeches and a bow tie. We are assuming that he has tied his short, army issue neck tie into a bow tie. Image remains very clear and very solid with excellent detail and no readily apparent blemishes. Good looking piece of trench art that displays very well.
